Kramatorsk is a city situated in the northern part of Donetsk oblast (region) of Ukraine. Kramatorsk city is an important railroad junction and one of the largest Ukraine machine building centers.

Kramatorsk Ukraine city history

According to archeological findings people settled on the territory of modern Kramatorsk city from ancient times. From the second half of 18th century there were numerous Cossacks settlements on Kramatorsk city territory.

The official foundation date of Kramatorsk is 1868. That time railway station Kramatorskaya appeared on Kursk-Kharkov-Azov railroad. At the beginning of 20th century the population was about 12,000 and there were two schools and hospital in Kramatorsk town. Further development of Kramatorsk was closely connected with heavy machine building industries.
