Ukrainian army land forces number about 60 thousand soldiers. There are about 700 main battle tanks, 2000 armoured combat vehicles, 70 battle helicopters, 700 artillery systems caliber 100 and above millimeters.
The main branch of Ukrainian ground forces are mechanized and tank troops including main battle tanks T-55, T-64, T-72, T-80, T-84; armoured personnel carriers (APC) BTR-60, BTR-70, BTR-80, BTR-90, BTR-94, BTR-3, BTR-4; infantry fighting vehicles BMP-1, BMP-2, BMP-3 and some other types of vehicles and equipment.
Rocket forces and artillery systems include tactical rocket systems “Tochka”; multiple rocket launcher systems “Smerch”, “Uragan”, “Grad”; howitzers “Giatsint”, “Pion”, “Akatsiya”, “Gvozdika”, “Msta-S”; antitank weapons “Shturm”, “Konkurs”, “Rapira”.
Aviation forces include helicopters Mi-6, Mi-8 and Mi-24 of different variations.
Ukrainian air defense is equipped by surface-to-air missile systems “Buk”, “Buk-M1”, “Tor”, “Tunguska-M1”, “Igla”, “Strela”, “Shilka”.
