Krivoy Rog was founded in 17th century by Cossacks. The first official mention was May 8, 1775. In 1881 Krivoy Rog town was developing quickly because of huge iron ore mining. During Civil war Krivoy Rog was one of the centers of Nestor Makhno rebellion.
From August 15, 1941 till 1944 Krivoy Rog city was occupied by German army during World War II. After the war Krivoy Rog became an important industrial and transport center of Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine.
