Krivoy Rog (Ukrainian spelling Kryvyi Rih) is a city situated in Dnepropetrovsk oblast of Ukraine. Krivoy Rog is the longest city in Europe (the distance between Terni district and Ingulec district is about 120 kilometers). Also Krivoy Rog maximum width is about 15 kilometers. Krivoy Rog city is cultural center of Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine.

Krivoy Rog Ukraine city history

Krivoy Rog was founded in 17th century by Cossacks. The first official mention was May 8, 1775. In 1881 Krivoy Rog town was developing quickly because of huge iron ore mining. During Civil war Krivoy Rog was one of the centers of Nestor Makhno rebellion.

From August 15, 1941 till 1944 Krivoy Rog city was occupied by German army during World War II. After the war Krivoy Rog became an important industrial and transport center of Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine.
