The time-lapse video of Crimea

Crimea was one of the most famous resorts in the Russian Empire and later the Soviet Union. Today Crimea remains a favorite resort of Ukrainians and Russians because of its warm sea, clean air and bright sun.

Crimea is also a popular resort place because of numerous hot springs, mineral waters and the mud baths of Saky. A series of invasions has made the art, architecture and other parts of culture of Crimea what it is today.

Karabi – the land of hundreds of caves

Karabi is a mountain karst plateau located in the Crimea, where on a relatively small area hundreds of caves can be found. The average height of the plateau is about 1000 meters above the sea level; the highest point is Mount Tai-Koba (1262 meters).

The plateau has an abundance of different types of karst cavities – caves, mines, and tunnels. Because of this the area is very popular among cavers.

The sightseeings of Lviv city

The following video shows a lot of sights of Lviv that we have already described on the page of the city.

You can see such attractions of Lviv as the Opera House, the Black Kamenitsa, Dominican church, monument to printing pioneer Ivan Fedorov and second-hand books market located nearby, Glinyanskiye Gate, King Danilo monument, Ivan Franko university, High Castle observation point.

The year of 2012 will be particularly important for Ukraine’s national football team because Ukraine together with Poland will be the hosts of the European Football Championship – Euro 2012. The matches in Ukraine will be played on the stadiums of Lviv, Kiev, Kharkov and Donetsk.

According to the draw the Ukrainian team will compete with teams from England, France and Sweden.

So far Ukrainian team had the greatest success in 2006, when Ukrainians made their way to the World Cup, and reached the quarterfinals stage. Good luck to the Ukrainian team at Euro 2012!

New Year’s fireworks in Nikolaev

People living in Nikolaev definitely know how to greet the new year with great fanfare :)

Khreshchatyk is the main street of Ukraine’s capital city Kiev. On holidays the street becomes pedestrian only.

The main event of New Year 2012 in Kiev will be a traditional New Year’s Eve at the Independence Square with concerts and celebrations. The celebrating will begin at approximately 8:00 pm on December 31 and end far after midnight on January 1.

The party will be thematic. The city authorities invite people to celebrate New Year in Euro 2012 style. The scene on the main square of Kiev will be in a form of huge football goal and giant ball.

On Saturday, December 3, the opening ceremony of the Mosque Ar-Rahma took place in Kiev. It is the first mosque built in the capital city of Ukraine. The mosque is designed for 3,000 people; its area is 3200 square meters; the height of the minaret is 27 meters.

The mosque was constructed in the historic part of the city, on the top of Schekavitsa Mountain. In total, about 2 million Muslims are living in Ukraine, and 60,000 – in Kiev. The mosque was named Ar-Rahma meaning “Mercy”. Address: Kiev, Lukyanovskaya Str., 46.

With the upcoming EURO 2012 Ukraine’s promotional campaign has started recently with the presentation of advertising video clip “Switch on Ukraine”. The video will be broadcast by major European TV channels.

But not all the people in Ukraine like it. There are a lot of doubts was it worth to spend about 500,000 USD to make it. That’s why several unofficial promo videos of Ukraine made almost for free only on the enthusiasm of the photographers have appeared.
