Monastyr-Lishnyansky is a village with a population of about 300 people located in Lviv Oblast, about 85 km southwest of Lviv.
The main attraction of the village is the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah – a monument of architecture of national importance built in 1698. In 1802, it was thoroughly rebuilt. The church was closed in 1960-1990, restored in 1969 and 1992. Monastyr-Lishnyansky on Google Maps. Photos by: Maxim Ritus.
The main feature of this wooden church is that its western part doesn’t stand on the foundation, it is supported by carved columns. Thus, parishioners who don’t fit in the church have reliable protection from the sun and rain.
