Serednje Vodyane is a large village with a population of about 6.5 thousand people located in the Rakhiv district of the Zakarpattia region, 162 km southeast of Uzhhorod, near the border with Romania.

Berdychiv, a historic city with a population of about 76 thousand people, is located 41 km south of Zhytomyr. In total, there are more than 90 monuments of history, architecture and monumental art here.

Spring in Kharkiv – after a heavy snowfall

Kharkiv is the second most populated city in Ukraine (about 1.5 million people) located in the north-eastern part of the country.

In the first days of March, a sudden heavy snowfall hit Kharkiv. Let’s walk through the streets of the city and see how it looks in the first week of calendar spring. Photos by: gatta_bianka.

Assumption Cathedral (1771-1777) – a tall and slender church constructed in the style of the Ukrainian Baroque. The belfry with chimes is the tallest building in Kharkiv (89 meters).

Horodok, first mentioned in 1213, is a small town with a population of about 16 thousand people located in the Lviv region, 29 km west of Lviv. In the town there are several monuments of architecture.

More than 30 years passed since the day of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident and the “temporary evacuation” of the residents of the town of Pripyat located in the immediate vicinity of the station, about 150 km north of Kyiv.

Over the years, the streets of Pripyat turned into a real forest. It will be another 10 to 15 years and the buildings will collapse massively. Feldman Ecopark is a regional landscape park with an area of 140.5 hectares located 15 km north of the center of Kharkiv. It is a favorite place for recreation of residents and visitors of the city.

Due to the fact that this is a charity project the entrance to the park is free, there are also regular free buses running between the park and the metro stations Derzhprom and Peremoga in Kharkiv. Photos by: gatta_bianka.

Bridges over the Dnieper River in Kyiv

Kyiv, the capital and the largest city of Ukraine, is located in the north of the central part of the country, on the banks of the Dnieper River.

In total, there are eight bridges across the Dnieper River in Kyiv. In addition, the city has a number of small bridges built over the tributaries of the Dnieper. The first floating bridge was constructed in 1115. Photos by: Sergey Hrynkevych.

Volodymyr-Volynskyi is a town with a population of about 39,000 people located in the south-western part of the Volyn region. This town, first mentioned in chronicles in 988, is one of the oldest towns of Kievan Rus.

St. Andrew’s Church in Kyiv from above

St. Andrew’s Church in Kyiv is an Orthodox church in honor of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called built on the Andriyivskyy Hill in 1749-1754.

This church in the Baroque style, designed by the architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, stands on the steep right bank of the Dnieper, over the historic part of the city – Podil. Andriyivskyy descent goes down from it connecting the upper city with the lower one. Photos by: Maxim Ritus.
