Abandoned nuclear power plant in Crimea

The construction of Crimean nuclear power plant began in 1975. The plan was to build the station providing the electricity for the entire Crimea. In 1984, it was proclaimed the All-Union Komsomol construction project.

The unfavorable economic situation in the USSR and the accident at Chernobyl nuclear power plant happened in April 26, 1986 led to the fact that by 1987 the construction was suspended, and in 1989 the decision to abandon the station was made. By that time the station was completed at about 80%.
