Children’s Railway in Kyiv

Syretsky park was laid out as a park with a children’s railway. Small South Western Railway (Kyiv Children’s Railway) is a narrow-gauge railway, and an institution of non-formal education in Kyiv, where children are trained in the rail industry.
The length of the railroad is 2.8 km. The trains (Tu-7 and an old German Gr-336) run between two stations: “Vyshen’ka” (“Cherry Tree”) and “Yablun’ka” (“Apple Tree”). You can find this park on Shamryl Street, 4. The nearest metro stations: “Dorohozhychi”, “Beresteiska”, “Shulyavska”.

Flower-show “European Ukraine” in Kyiv

May 16, an exhibition of flowers “European Ukraine” was opened on the Singing Field in the Pechersk Landscape Park in Kyiv. The exhibition is dedicated to the first countries of the European Union on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the EU.
Landscape designers tried to convey features and colors of each of the first ten participating countries. The exhibition is open daily from 9:00 to 21:00, until June 14. Photos by: Alexander Shvab.

Vudubickiy Monastery in Kyiv

St. Michael’s Vudubickiy Monastery was founded in the second half of the 11th century by Vsevolod, the son of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. The architectural ensemble of the present monastery was built in the 17th-18th centuries.
The monastery is located in the Botanical Garden named after Grishko in Kyiv. It belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate.

National Botanic Garden of Nikolai Grishko is a research institution engaged in the design and creation of new botanical gardens and parks, as well as many other branches of theoretical and applied botany.
This botanical garden is part of the natural reserve fund of Ukraine protected as a national heritage of the state. It is located in Kyiv (Timiryazevskaya Street, 1).

St. Panteleimon Monastery in Feofania

St. Panteleimon Monastery in Feofania is a nunnery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, located in “Feofania” natural park, on the southern outskirts of Kyiv (Academician Lebedev Street, 19).
Feofania is a monument of landscape art of national importance. The park harmoniously combines miraculous masterpieces of untouched nature, landscape design and spiritual greatness of St. Panteleimon Cathedral.

Light show at Sophia Square in Kyiv

April 4, 2015, on the facade of St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Kyiv, you could see a unique show – light performance “I – Dream” commemorating the opening of the 12th “French Spring in Ukraine.”
“French Spring in Ukraine” includes an extensive cultural program on the whole territory of Ukraine, strengthening Franco-Ukrainian relations and cooperation.

Imagine this situation: Kyiv region, you are driving on an empty night road in the direction of Kyiv, and about 30 km from the city, all of a sudden, about 500 meters from the highway, you can see such a sight.
It is not an entertainment or tourist center, but one of the largest film studios in Ukraine – VICTORIA FILM STUDIOS, located on Zhitomir highway Kyiv-Chop, near the village of Hurivshchyna. The location of the studios on Google Maps. The photos were taken by Sergiy Kotko.

St. Nicholas Cathedral – The House of Organ Music in Kiev

St. Nicholas Cathedral in Kiev is a Roman Catholic Church used, since 1980, as the House of Organ and Chamber Music (Bolshaya Vasylkivska Street, 77).
The construction of the church began in 1899. In 1909, the cathedral, built in stylized Gothic forms, was consecrated. It was closed and looted around 1933. Later, the building housed warehouses. In 1943, during the Second World War, the church was badly damaged.
