Zaporozhye aluminum combine is an industrial enterprise of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine, the only producer of primary aluminum in the country.

The construction of an aluminum plant in Zaporozhye began in 1930. The plant became the first enterprise of the Soviet aluminum industry. The first aluminum ingots were produced in 1933. In Zaporozhye there is a museum about which even many locals do not know. Opened in 2012, it is located practically in the center of the city.

The Historical and Cultural Complex “Zaporizhia Sich”, located in the north-east of the island of Khortytsia in Zaporizhia, is a reconstruction of the Cossack fortress of the 16th-18th centuries, recreating the image of the Cossack capital and the atmosphere of the time.

Khortytsia is the largest island on the Dnieper River located within the limits of Zaporozhye city below the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station. It is a unique natural and historical complex. The island stretches from northwest to southeast, length – 12.5 km, width – 2.5 km on average.
