The record launch of sky lanterns in Khmelnitsky

September 27, 2014, the city of Khmelnitsky celebrated the 583rd anniversary of its founding. In honor of this event, the record launch of sky lanterns was held.
18100 sky lanterns were launched into the sky. Today, it is the best record in the world. About 16 thousand people took part in this event called “Sky lanterns in the sky – peace on Earth.”

Kyiv cable railway – a unique transport system

For over 100 years the residents and visitors of Kyiv actively use the cable railway connecting Podil (a historic neighborhood of Ukrainian capital) with the Upper Town (the oldest part of the city).

The Parade of Vyshyvankas in Kyiv

Yesterday, August 24, the Ukrainians were celebrating Independence Day. In honor of this day, in the center of Kyiv, the parade of vyshyvankas (traditional Ukrainian clothing with elements of ethnic embroidery) was held.

The Auto-Bike-Photo-TV-Radio museum in Vinnitsa

Collection of vintage cars of the former President of Ukraine

Of course, Viktor Yanukovych didn’t buy all these cars himself. They are the gifts received while he was President.
Eventually, there were so many gifts, that a special building was constructed for them. Now everybody can attend the former residence of Yanukovych in Mezhigorie (about 30 km north of Kyiv) and admire this collection. Photos by horoshiyblog

Unique light and music fountain in Vinnitsa

The largest in Europe and one of the world’s largest floating light and music fountain can be found in Vinnitsa. The fountain is built in the riverbed of the Southern Bug River.

The Park of Miniatures in Kyiv

Kyiv is a rather big city with a lot of interesting places. But there is one place where you can see the main attractions of the city together. It is Kyiv Park of Miniatures located near the metro station “Hydro Park.”
The park has about 50 architectural objects of Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine. In the future, there will be more than 120 models of buildings. The park covers an area of 1.8 hectares and is located on the territory of Hydro Park near the restaurant complex “Mlyn” at Brovarsky Avenue, 9V. Photos by muph

Ukrainian Regions Birds – Independence Day Parade

These huge stylized birds representing all regions of Ukraine were demonstrated on the parade in embroidered shirts in Kyiv on August 24 (Independence Day of Ukraine).

Exhibition of flower cars at Pevcheskoe Pole in Kiev

“Pevcheskoe Pole” (“Song Festival Grounds”) is an area for concert performances in the Pechersk Landscape Park in Kiev. In general, the place can be described as open space for concerts and festivals.
Since the early 1990s, annual flower show is held here. This year an exhibition of flower cars is opened here.

The State Aviation Museum of Ukraine

The State Aviation Museum of Ukraine (Zhulyany) was opened in 2003. Today, this museum located in Kiev is the largest history and technology museum in the country. The exposure of the museum has nearly 70 planes and helicopters.
Of additional interest is the fact that the museum is located very close to the airport “Kiev” (Zhulyany), the runway lies only about 100 meters away behind a transparent wall. Photos by Valentin Rukomoynikov
