Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych is one of the oldest universities in Ukraine. It is located in the city of Chernivtsi, the capital of the Chernivtsi region.

The university was founded in 1875, on the basis of a theological seminary. In 1940, after the accession of Northern Bukovina to the USSR, the university was transformed into the Soviet state university with teaching in the Ukrainian language. Photos and video by: skyandmethod.com

Fairy-tale forest on Demerdzhi in the Crimea

Demerdzhi-Yayla or just Demerdzhi is a mountain range located in the Alushta region of the Crimea.

Trams are used as urban public transport in Kyiv since 1892. It was the first electric tram network in the Russian Empire.

Stryi is a small provincial town with a population of about 60 thousand people located in the Lviv region. The exact date of the town foundation is not known. It was first mentioned in 1385.

The Ukrainian Carpathians is part of the Carpathian mountain system located in western Ukraine, on the territories of the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, and Chernivtsi regions. The total area of the mountains is more than 24 thousand sq. km.

Dzembronya is a small village located on the steep slopes of Chornohora Ridge in Verkhovyna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region, near the border with Romania. It is the most high-altitude village in Ukraine and probably one of the most picturesque ones.

Despite the fact that the population of Dzembronya is only about 250 people, the length of the village is about 10 km. There are no enterprises, collective farms, industrial facilities here.

Zhovkva is a small town with a population of about 13 thousand people located 25 km north of Lviv, about 35 km from the Ukrainian-Polish border. The town stands at the crossroads of international highways to Poland and the Baltic states.

Since 1994, the central part of the town has the status of a historical and architectural reserve. To get to Zhovkva from Lviv, you can take minibuses from “Lviv” hotel. The trip takes about 30-40 minutes. Photos by: Alexander Shvab.
