Chortkiv, first mentioned in 1427, is a small town with a population of about 29,000 people located in the Ternopil region, 75 km south of Ternopil.

In the central part of the town there is a number of preserved architectural and historical sights, low-rise residential buildings of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. Pidhaitsi is a small town with a population of about 2,700 people located in the Ternopil region of Ukraine, 68 km south-west of Ternopil. This town, first mentioned in 1463, has a rich history.

Velykyi Lyubin is an urban village with a population of about 4,600 people located in the Lviv region, 28 km south-west of Lviv. It is a famous balneological and mud resort in which there are also several interesting architectural monuments.

Horodok, first mentioned in 1213, is a small town with a population of about 16 thousand people located in the Lviv region, 29 km west of Lviv. In the town there are several monuments of architecture.

Attractions of the Ukrainian Carpathians

The Ukrainian Carpathians are part of the Carpathian mountain system located in western Ukraine, mainly on the territory of the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, and Chernivtsi regions, with a total area of about 24 thousand square kilometers.

The absolute heights of this picturesque mountain system range from 120-400 meters at the foot of the mountains to 500-800 meters in intermontane depressions and 1,500-2,000 meters along the main ridges.

Church of the Assumption in Roztoky

Roztoky is a small village with a population of about 1,500 people located in the Putilsky district of the Chernivtsi region, about 80 km west of Chernivtsi.

Skelivka (until 1945 – Felsztyn) is a village with a population of about 1,000 people located in the Starosamborsk district of the Lviv region, 93 km southwest of Lviv, near the border with Poland.

This village is primarily known for the fact that here was the main character of the famous satirical novel of Jaroslav Hasek – The Good Soldier Schweik. In Skelivke there is a monument to Schweik.

More than 30 years passed since the day of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident and the “temporary evacuation” of the residents of the town of Pripyat located in the immediate vicinity of the station, about 150 km north of Kyiv.

Over the years, the streets of Pripyat turned into a real forest. It will be another 10 to 15 years and the buildings will collapse massively. Kharkiv, the second most populous city in Ukraine with a population of about 1.4 million people, is located in the north-eastern part of the country.

St. Lawrence’s Church in Zhovkva

St. Lawrence’s Church is a monument of architecture and culture located in the town of Zhovkva in the Lviv region, 25 kilometers north of Lviv and 35 kilometers from the Ukrainian-Polish border.
