Dnepropetrovsk (Ukrainian spelling Dnipropetrovsk) is the fourth largest city in Ukraine (population about 1 million). The city is an administrative center of Dnepropetrovsk oblast located in the south-central part of Ukraine.
Dnepropetrovsk is one of the largest industrial, economic and transport centers, the center of metallurgy and space capital of Ukraine. Also informally the city is a business capital of the country. Dnepropetrovsk has a number of beautiful churches, museums, monuments, boulevards, and other sights.

Crimea was one of the most famous resorts in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union since the 18th century. Today Crimea remains a favorite resort of Ukrainians and Russians because of its warm sea, clean air and bright sun.

Korsun-Shevchenkovskiy Park is a beautiful monument of landscape architecture located about 150 kilometers from Kiev in Cherkassy oblast. This park is the part of Korsun-Shevchenkovskiy historical and cultural reserve, landscape art monument of national importance.
The park in the style of English landscape parks was founded in 1782. The park is situated on three islands and the right bank of the river Ros. Bridges connect the islands to each other and to the banks of the river. Photos by takie_tam

Swallow’s Nest – medieval knight’s castle in Crimea

Swallow’s Nest (“Lastochkino Gnezdo” – Russian spelling) is a monument of architecture and history standing on the top of 40-meter Avrorin cliff (Ai-Todor cape, Gaspra village located near Yalta city).
The building resembles a medieval knight’s castle like the Belem Tower or Miramar Villa near Trieste. Swallow’s Nest has become a kind of emblem of the Southern coast of Crimea.

The church soaring in the clouds in Crimea

This church can be seen by anyone who is traveling by Yalta highway from Sevastopol to Yalta, or vice versa. Church of the Ascension is standing on the red rock at an altitude of 472 meters above sea level high above small town of Foros, which is why it is also called the Foros church.
Church of the Ascension built in the Byzantine style was constructed in 1892. In the 1930s, crosses and bells were removed from the church. It was restored and re-consecrated in 1990. Photos by Sergey Anashkevitch

Andrew’s Descent – one of the main sights of Kiev

Andrew’s Descent in Kiev is one of the oldest ways connecting the Upper Town, its central part, with the trade area Podil.
Today Andrew’s Descent is a street-museum. This is one of the major tourist attractions in the Ukrainian capital. Many famous figures of science and culture: scholars, writers, composers, painters, sculptors lived and worked here.

The new terminal “D” of “Borispol” airport

In late May, after three and a half years of construction, new terminal “D” of Ukraine’s main airport located in Boryspil was opened.
At the moment, this terminal is the largest in Ukraine. The total area is 107 thousand square meters, and now it can serve up to 15 million passengers a year, or three thousand passengers per hour. Photos by Press Service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The European Football Championship 2012 begins today. The championship is hosted by two countries: Poland and Ukraine. The opening ceremony will be held in Warsaw (Poland).
Tomorrow the first Ukrainian matches will be played: Germany Vs Portugal at the stadium “Arena Lviv” in the city of Lviv and Netherlands Vs Denmark at the stadium “Metalist” in Kharkov.

Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Dnieper is an open air museum, located on the outskirts of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky town (about 100 km from Kiev).
The museum presents a Ukrainian village of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, as well as buildings and monuments since the late Paleolithic period to the times of Kievan Rus. Thirteen thematic museums can be found on the territory of 30 hectares. Photos by Kirill Vyazankin
