The Roman-Catholic church of St. Nicholas, built in the stylized Gothic forms with tall arrow spiers at the beginning of the 20th century, is one of the most beautiful buildings in Kyiv.

Construction began in August 1899, after a group of Catholics appealed to the governor of Kyiv with the request for permission to build a church. By that time, the city already had one Roman-Catholic church (Alexander Cathedral), but, given that there were more than 40 thousand Catholics in Kyiv, one cathedral was not enough. Flowering sakura and apple trees in Uzhhorod

Uzhhorod is a relatively small city with a population of about 100,000 people located in the west of Ukraine, the capital of Zakarpattia region. Due to the fact that Uzhhorod has a wide variety of green spaces, it is often called “the garden city”.

This is particularly evident, if you come to Uzhhorod in the middle of spring, when sakura and apple trees blossom in the streets. Most often, this period begins during the second half of April. Photos by: uzh_city.

Vozdvizhenka is a residential area built in the early 2000s in the heart of historical Kyiv, at the intersection of Kozhumiatska, Dehtiarna, Honcharna, and Vozdvyzhenska streets.

This residential complex recreates part of old Kyiv. The houses are built in the architectural styles popular in the late 19th century: mainly Baroque and “Kyiv” Art Nouveau with Gothic variations.
