Pidhirtsi Castle (1635-1640) is a relatively well-preserved monument of late Renaissance and Baroque architecture surrounded by defensive structures.

The Palanok Castle, also known as Mukacheve Castle, is the main attraction of the town of Mukacheve located in the Zakarpattia region. The castle stands on a 68-meter-high hill of volcanic origin, the total area of the castle is 13,930 square meters.

The exact date of the founding of the castle is unknown. For the first time it was mentioned in documents in the 11th century. The fortifications were built and rebuilt several times. Svirzh Castle, a unique monument of defensive architecture of the 15th-17th centuries, is located in the village of Svirzh in Peremyshlyany district of the Lviv region.

Built as a fortress, the castle lost its original appearance after the reconstruction carried out in the 17th century. Despite its advantageous location – on a hill surrounded by marshes and lakes – this palace-castle could hardly have a significant defensive value.
