Questions and answers:

Falcon asks: Are there taxi services charging 700 euro from Donetsk to Kyiv or is this scam? what are the possible ways to leave Donetsk?
Expert's answer:

This is 100% scam. As of January 2024, Donetsk is controlled by Russia. This means that there are no direct transport links between this city and other Ukrainian cities controlled by the Ukrainian government (Kyiv). The frontline can't be crossed by civilians, there are no checkpoints.

Anyone who says that there are buses, taxis, private cars running from Donetsk across the frontline are lying. The only way to leave Donetsk for a real person is to go to Russia at first, for example, to Rostov-on-Don. From Russia, it is possible to fly to Istanbul, Turkey, for example, or enter the Baltic countries or even return to Ukraine via Kolotylivka-Pokrovka checkpoint in Sumy Oblast, the only one border crossing, which is open.

As we receive similar requests almost every day, our advice is not to send any help to a person in Ukraine, especially in parts of Ukraine controlled by Russia (in this case, in our experience, the chance that this "person" is a scammer is close to 100%), before you are absolutely sure that this person is real. Otherwise you are doing it at your risk.

Danny asks: How much will cost a taxi service from Donetsk to Kramatorsk?
Expert's answer:
As of May 2023, there is no regular transport connection (taxi, buses, trains) between Donetsk and Kramatorsk, as this means crossing the most active sector of the front. Anyone who claims otherwise is just lying to you. Please be very careful when financially helping people from Ukraine, especially when it comes to those parts of the country that are controlled by Russia. In our experience, these are almost always scammers.
Arnold asks: How much will cost a taxi service from Donetsk to Kiev?
Expert's answer:
As of April 2023, there are no direct transport links between Donetsk and Kyiv (buses, trains, taxis, etc.) as this means crossing the front line. As we receive similar requests almost every day, our advice is not to send any help to a person in Ukraine, especially in parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions controlled by Russia like in your case, before you are absolutely sure that this person is real, a couple of photos can't be proof. At least talk to this person multiple times with a webcam turned on. Otherwise you are doing it at your risk.
William asks: Are there taxis currently operating in Ternopil? If so, how much do they charge per mile? How much would a trip from Ternopil to Lviv cost?
Expert's answer:
Currently, taxi services continue to be provided in Ternopil, the fare for trips outside the city starts from 10 hryvnia per 1 km, the distance from Ternopil to Lviv is 134 km, so the cost of the trip starts from about 1,300 hryvnia (35 USD). Margie asks: Hello, Ukraine expert! What do you think is the average taxi fare from the Odessa train station to the centre? Is it generally better to find a taxi at the train station, or to arrange a transfer from the hotel? Thank you.
